THE SUNLIGHT IS FREE

The sunlight is free. There are little or no resources in a barren countryside. The firewood or fuel is not available to make a fire. However, a solar cooker is possible and is able to provide basic heating and cooking to people around the world. One such personal story empowering the Women of Darfur is found:

The type of solar cooker used in the �Solar Cooker Project� in Darfur is the CooKit developed by Solar Cookers International and is made out of cardboard and aluminum foil. Not only is it easy to manufacture for personal use, the women at the refugee camps are manufacturing solar cookers to provide income for themselves. Because of the dire circumstances at the refugee camps, the solar cookers also enable the women to remain within the relative safety of the refugee camps because they do not have to seek firewood and are able to earn some income.

The concept of solar cookers is working in the refugee camps of Iridimi, Touloum and Oure Cassoni in Chad. There are other solar cooker projects Africa, India and Asia. Without doubt, the use of solar cookers has unappreciated potential in regions of need.
