SOLAR OBSERVATORY: Would you
like to look at the sun? Obviously, we have been taught from early age not
to look directly at the sun. However, there is such a thing as a solar
observatory where you can look at the sun through a huge telescope and
even are able to see sun spots. One solar observatory is located at
Florida Atlantic University, with astronomer Eric Vandernoot giving
lectures about our active star, the sun, and guiding visitors up to the
observatory to see the sun. The tours are offered for $6 per member and $9
dollars for non-members in conjunction with Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and
Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida.

The National Solar Observatory welcomes visitors during the
daytime. Its observatories are located at Sacramento Peak, New Mexico and
Kitt Peak, Arizona. http://www.nso.edu/ The Big Bear Observatory (BBSO) is
operated by the New Jersey Institute of Technology and is located in the
middle of Big Bear Lake. In addition to the dedicated telescopes, they
host two different helioseismology experiments: the TON (Taiwan
Oscillation Network) and the GONG (Global Oscillation Network Group).

FREE SOLAR CALCULATOR: Would you like to know how much clean
electricity you can generate from the sun at your home or location? There
is a free website which you can go to where you merely enter your zip code
and it will give you the amount of energy per day for your location.

SOLAR CLOTHES DRYER: Would you like to dry your clothes using the
sunlight and fresh air? The solution is both so old fashioned and yet so
new and green. Hanging clothes to dry is free and green. Many methods are
available, but one way is to have an outdoor umbrella clothesline or put
up a pulley clothesline and use wooden clothespins. Even though you
might remember this as something your grandmother did, or something you
saw in the movies, believe it or not, these items are still available to
buy easily over the internet. The solar clothes dryer items are considered
Featured Solar Products.

SUN TEA: Tea anyone? Sun Tea is so simple and easy to prepare
whether for fun or in need. Simply get a large glass container, add water
into it and place a large tea bag or several small tea bags into the
water. Place the glass container in direct sunlight and wait. The water
will brew the tea and in about one hour, the tea is steeped and ready to
drink. Remove the tea bags and, if desired, chill the tea to make ice tea.
Flavors can always be added to the tea, such as honey, lemon or oranges,
to enhance the flavor of the tea.
