SOLAR PHONE CHARGER: What do I
use everyday that needs power? One thing is a cell phone charger. So, our
Featured Solar Product for this month is a universal charger for
electronic devices that stores power. The product is called Solio and it
made the cut as practical and easy. Basically, the charger has a sleek
design which can clip unto a backpack and comes with attachments that
works with most phones, but also iPods, PDAs, GPSs and game consoles.
The charger uses direct sunlight and also indoor lights to charge. It is a
hybrid which can also access a charge from a USB port.
The packaging and product are easy and intuitive. I gave it my home
testing, which means that a non-technical adult (me) tries to use it
without frustration. The charger passes with flying colors. Then I gave it
to my teenage techie daughter for the ultimate test. Is it cool and does
it work? Fabulous response to the later test. She clipped the charger to
her backpack and has power available all day.
I cannot tell you that the Solio is the best charger on the market, but it
satisfied the requirements of being practical and easy to transition to
solar power. The idea is that if we all start to use solar products little
by little we will actually enhance our lifestyle without any real efforts.
The benefits of solar power, besides being green, include have the
emergency reserves in the event of power failures. I live in Florida where
we have experienced a few hurricanes with significant power outages.
Having a solar charger for emergency situations is a real added benefit.
The Solio charger is available to buy through Weems Creek Solutions and a
detailed description with specifications is found.
